(Nurseries and eco-tourism) investment opportunities offered by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification in Eastern
On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Environment Committee, organized an open meeting with the CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdul-Qader, in which he reviewed the center’s role as a supporter and enabler for the development of vegetation within the environmental system in the Kingdom, at the chamber’s headquarters.
The meeting, which was moderated by the head of the committee, Talal bin Sultan Al-Rasheed, presented several investment opportunities that the center is working to develop and present to local and international investors, including wild plant nurseries and afforestation projects, which aim to bridge the large gap in Saudi Arabia’s green needs, in addition to several investment opportunities and ideas in the sector. Sustainable tourism, the most important of which is the establishment of eco-hotels, tourist camps, environmental and therapeutic tourism projects, and activities related to nature, in addition to the project of establishing and operating caravan parking lots and operating and managing national parks.
The meeting also listened to a presentation that includes opportunities to support and develop projects for natural events and adventures such as hiking, paragliding, and mountain biking, and opportunities to benefit from the waste of trees and harmful or invasive plants.
The meeting reviewed the facilities provided by the center to attract investors and encourage investment in vegetation lands, which include, for example, the long-term investment period, temporary investment, and marketing support, in addition to the necessary opportunities and studies for investors. His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Abdul-Qader clarified the controls for investing in vegetation lands by preserving the vegetation cover and natural formations, adhering to the environmental regulations and their implementing regulations and related controls and requirements, not changing the natural identity of the site, not exceeding the maximum building percentage and providing security and safety tools. And make sure to obtain the necessary licenses.
On investment opportunities in the eastern region, the meeting announced 6 investment opportunities in Al-Ahsa National Park, Al-Asfar Lake National Park, and Al-Oyoun Lake National Park, which will witness qualitative development during the coming months of 2023.
