Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received the letter of the Federation of Saudi Chambers No. (45551820/20), dated (21/1/1448 AH), referring to the email received from the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization dated June 29, 2026, attached to the new regulation issued by the European Union at the WTO Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO TBT), published under No. (G/TBT/N/EU/1211), concerning the application of the digital passport, which requires that it contain product information such as origin, components, sustainability, recycling, and compliance for the following products (products subject to sustainable ecodesign requirements: “batteries – construction materials – children’s toys – detergents”) .
Accordingly, the Federation informs you of the Organization’s request to assess the potential technical barriers that the above-mentioned European regulation may pose to exports of Saudi products, so that the Organization’s Standing Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade can take whatever action it deems appropriate with the European side before the regulation enters into force.
Therefore, the Federation hopes that those concerned with this matter will provide their views, including the scientific justifications “if any,” to the email (enquirypoint@saso.gov.sa) no later than the end of the working day on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
