Dear Esteemed Chamber Subscribers,
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received an email from the Federation of Saudi Chambers dated (4/5/2026), referring to the letter of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority No. (45037/2), dated (22/4/2026), corresponding to (5/11/1447 AH), which includes Article (Thirteen) of the Food Law, which provides that “no food establishment may handle food before obtaining a license from the Authority, in accordance with the requirements, conditions, and procedures specified by the Regulations,” in keeping with the Authority’s keenness to verify food safety and the compliance of food establishments practicing manufacturing or storage activities with the statutory licenses and the technical standards necessary for food safety, especially during the Hajj season.
The Authority asks the relevant establishments in Makkah and Madinah to comply with the provisions of the Food Law and its Implementing Regulations; not to practice food manufacturing or storage activities without obtaining the necessary statutory licenses; not to store products outside the boundaries of the licensed establishment; and not to reopen establishments after their closure without meeting the statutory requirements and obtaining the Authority’s approval, in order to avoid the application of the prescribed penalties, which include financial fines of up to (10) million Saudi riyals, barring the violator from practicing any food activity for up to (180) days, and/or revocation of the license, and/or suspension of the license for a period not exceeding one year.
Please accept our sincere regards and appreciation.
