Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received an email from the Federation of Saudi Chambers dated (30/03/2026), referring to the letter of the Transport General Authority No. (5428/47/1), dated (11/10/1447 AH), regarding the Transport General Authority’s initiative to raise the efficiency of the use of the land transport fleet and enhance its operational flexibility in keeping with current changes, and to enable the land transport sector to absorb all changes and meet the growing needs of this vital sector.
Accordingly, the Transport General Authority Board of Directors Decision dated (07/10/1447 AH), corresponding to (26/03/2026), was issued, which includes the following:
First: Permitting the operating life of a single vehicle or tractor unit used in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for third parties) and the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to be exceeded, for a period of (6) months from the date of the decision, provided that the operating life does not exceed (22) years from the vehicle’s year of manufacture, as an exception to the provision of Article (Twenty-Four) of the Implementing Regulations for Heavy Goods Transport Activities for Commercial and Non-Commercial Purposes.
Second: Allowing service providers in the heavy goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the establishment’s own account) to contract for the transport of goods they do not own, subject to issuing a “transport document” for each shipment transported, for a period of (6) months from the date of this decision, as an exception to the provision of paragraph (4) of Article (Thirty) of the Implementing Regulations for Heavy Goods Transport Activities for Commercial and Non-Commercial Purposes.
