Asharqia Chamber extends its warmest greetings to you and would like to inform you that it has received the letter of the Eastern Province Development Authority No. (47002781), dated (1/2/2026), which refers to the work of the Destination Management Office at the Eastern Province Development Authority in directing efforts and coordinating with the relevant entities to develop destinations through the optimal use of tourism resources, maximizing the return from attractions and their potential and marketing them, and developing sustainable, high-quality tourism products and programs to enhance the visitor experience through:

  • Defining the strategic tourism vision, goals, and aspirations for the destinations.
  • Developing the development plans for the destinations, zones, attractions, and tourism routes in the region.
  • Building the tourism identity and developing the marketing plans for the destinations.
  • Developing and designing tourism products, services, and packages to fill gaps, monitor the visitor experience, and meet visitors’ needs.
  • Supporting the activation of tourism, cultural, entertainment, and sports sites and activities in the region and enabling the tourism-related sectors. Five tourism destinations have been approved by the Ministry of Tourism within the Authority’s supervisory scope, namely: (Al Khobar, Dammam, Qatif including Darin and Tarout Island, Jubail, and the Desert Oases including “Hafr Al-Batin, Qaryat Al-Ulya, Al-Nairyah”).

Work has begun on developing the Al Khobar tourism identity in cooperation with the Saudi Tourism Authority. A workshop will be held with interested parties in the private sector to review the directions and take their views, on Wednesday, February 11 (2026), from (1–3) p.m. at the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Science and Technology Center (Scitech) in Al Khobar.
