Asharqia Chamber Opens Registration Next Sunday for Voters and Candidates for Membership of Its Sector Committees and Business Councils

Asharqia Chamber announces its intention to begin the electoral process for forming the sector committees and councils and to receive applications to join as candidates and voters, from Sunday, February 1, 2026, until Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Asharqia Chamber Chairman, Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Farraj, affirmed that the sector committees and business councils are the fundamental pillar of the work of chambers of commerce and an effective tool for learning the aspirations of the members, noting their pivotal role in contributing to the formulation of national economic decisions and achieving the targets of Vision 2030, particularly with regard to developing the private sector.

He explained that these committees will comprise an elite of businessmen and businesswomen in the various sectors, represent the interests of entrepreneurs, and contribute to diagnosing the issues and challenges facing the various sectors and proposing appropriate solutions, affirming the importance of their role in studying economic issues and submitting views and recommendations with a positive impact.

The Chamber’s Chairman expressed his optimism that this term will produce effective committees that keep pace with the accelerating developments in the national economy, calling on the business sector to take part positively and effectively in the committee elections, in a way that helps raise the level of the Chamber’s services. He affirmed that the successes achieved by Asharqia Chamber over the past years came as the fruit of the engagement of the committees and executive councils with the directions of the Board of Directors, and the high-quality ideas and initiatives they offered in support of the strategic goals.

Al-Farraj noted that the Chamber has prepared a digital mechanism for registering voters and candidates, which includes online submission of applications for candidacy for membership and applications to take part as voters, with the ease and speed it provides in scheduling applicants. Those wishing to join the committees and councils will be able to view the conditions and steps on the Chamber’s website, which include registration in the commercial register and membership of the Chamber,

The Chamber has 17 sector committees and business councils. The committees are: Commercial, Finance, Agriculture and Food, Tourism, Women’s Workshops and Centers, Real Estate and Urban Development, Logistics, Environment, Education and Training, Communications and Information Technology, Industry and Energy, Hospitality and Entertainment, Health, and Contracting, in addition to three business councils: Jubail, Qatif, and Khafji.

It is required that the establishment be represented by its owner or manager, or the company by its chairman, one of its board members, or its chief executive, under an official letter certified by the Chamber stating the name, ID number, and position.

For candidacy, it is also required that the establishment has practiced its activity within the geographical scope of the Chamber’s jurisdiction for no less than three years, that the applicant does not run for membership of the committee for more than two consecutive terms, with any part of a term exceeding two years counted as a full term, and that the applicant’s membership was not revoked from any sector committee during its previous term.

Candidacy is permitted for membership of one committee only, whether the applicant holds one membership or several activities; the right to run is limited to a single committee.
