Asharqia Chamber to Launch the Family Wealth Governance Forum This December

As part of its efforts to support family businesses, strengthen their capacity for sustainability, and help them keep pace with global economic transformations, Asharqia Chamber will organize the “Family Wealth Governance Forum” on December 6, 2026, under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, and in partnership with the Governance Center. The forum will be attended by a group of experts specializing in governance and the sustainability of family businesses.

The forum aims to anticipate key global economic trends and explore ways to enhance the sustainability of family businesses and the governance of their wealth, helping to ensure the stability of these vital economic entities and maximize their impact and strategic role in supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development goals.

Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Farraj, Chairman of Asharqia Chamber’s Board of Directors, affirmed that the patronage of HRH the Governor of the Eastern Province and his ongoing support for the Chamber’s programs and initiatives reflect his interest in encouraging developmental and community-focused economic initiatives and strengthening the Chamber’s role in serving the business sector. He noted that this support is a key incentive to continue launching high-quality, specialized programs, foremost among them promoting the principles of family business governance and applying best management practices to ensure business continuity and succession across generations. This contributes to sustainable development and strengthens the complementary partnership among the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, in line with the aspirations of the Eastern Province and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Al-Farraj said the forum comes at a time when the government is making significant efforts to support the continuity of family businesses, given their substantial contribution to the national economy and their capacity to employ many members of the national workforce. He emphasized the importance of institutional governance in strengthening the continuity of family businesses and ensuring an orderly transfer between generations, preserving their accumulated legacy, preparing family wealth for future needs, and enhancing its contribution to the economy and development.

Al-Farraj also highlighted the importance of the forum’s subject at both the local and regional levels. He said it builds on the Chamber’s ongoing discussions about family businesses and the importance of their sustainability, and serves as a message the Chamber is keen to convey to family business owners about the importance of applying governance rules and procedures.

The forum will focus on several issues related to the future of family wealth, foremost among them corporate and wealth governance, leadership succession, wealth management, and preparing future generations. It will also review the tools and practices that help business-owning families build more efficient and sustainable institutional frameworks. The forum’s mission is to provide a knowledge-based, interactive platform bringing together experts and family business leaders to explore governance tools, develop wealth management mechanisms, and strengthen the next generation’s readiness to lead their businesses efficiently and innovatively.
