Asharqia Chamber Chairman: The Endowment Sector Is a Key Driver of Sustainable Development, and Governance Enhances Investment in Its Assets

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, Asharqia Chamber, represented by its Social Responsibility Center, is organizing the “Endowment Practices Forum 2026,” held this year under the title “Legislation That Stimulates the Growth and Disbursement of Endowments.” The forum will take place on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at the Chamber’s main headquarters, with broad participation from leading specialists, experts, and stakeholders in the endowment sector.

Chairman of Asharqia Chamber’s Board of Directors, Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Farraj, stated that the forum primarily aims to highlight the legislative and regulatory frameworks that support the growth of endowments, enhance the efficiency of their management, and develop their assets in a way that ensures the sustainability of their resources and expands their developmental and social impact.

Al-Farraj added: “The endowment sector is now one of the vital drivers of sustainable development, given its active role in funding charitable causes, supporting community initiatives, and promoting social solidarity. However, advancing this sector requires genuine integration among all relevant entities and the establishment of an institutional culture based on governance, transparency, and high efficiency in asset management.” He noted that enabling legislation helps strengthen confidence in endowment work and move it beyond meeting short-term needs toward creating sustainable developmental value.

For his part, Chairman of Asharqia Chamber’s Endowments Committee, Ayed bin Farhan Al-Qahtani, commended the significant support and broad momentum that the endowment sector has seen under the Kingdom’s wise leadership, may God protect them. He noted efforts to address operational, regulatory, and legislative challenges so the sector can become a significant player in the national economy. He called for stronger partnerships among the public, private, and charitable sectors to renew the uses of endowment funds, improve the efficiency of their investments, and deploy them in a manner that reflects the scale of the national economy and goes beyond traditional roles to contribute to the development of promising economic sectors.

The forum is intended for endowment trustees, those working in the nonprofit sector, and specialists in legal, financial, and administrative fields. It will provide an interactive platform for exchanging expertise and exploring the sector’s future in line with global best practices.
