The membership number of Asharqia Chamber rose to 45,811 in 2011, representing a 8.6 percent increase over the previous year. This was disclosed by Abdulrahman Rashed Al Rashed, Chairman of the Chamber in a monthly meeting at the Chamber premises. The monthly meeting which takes place on the first Tuesday every month discussed various economic issues and challenges facing the business community in the Eastern Province.
The membership number of Asharqia Chamber has witnessed a significant increase in the past few years. For instance, in 2010, the membership number went up to 42,192 from 32,182 in the year 2007.
Al Rashed attributed the increase in the number of Chamber membership to the growing economic activities in the Kingdom particularly in its Eastern Province. These rising economic activities have prompted the Chamber to expand its services to its members through 16 centers, he said.
Al Rashed noted that the Chamber published more than 50 studies and research papers and over 10 analytical economic articles in 2011. During the period, the Chamber also provided more than 920 consultation services which benefited over 705 people
