Asharqia Chamber won recently the award of Prince Mohammed bin Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for Charitable Works Service.
During his speech, Chairman of Asharqia Chamber Abdulrahman Al Rashid indicated that this achievement for private and governmental sectors for supporting and encouraging charity works comes as a crowning of the efforts done by the Chamber to community service and initiatives to spread the spirit of volunteerism, expressing his deep thanks and appreciation to HRH Prince Mohammad bin Fahad and the Committee for granting such honor to the chamber.
Furthermore,Al Rashid said that the chamber is honored by winning such prestigious award, in the field of social services, as far as the honor it puts chamber in front of more responsibilities and extra duties.
He explained that the Chamber has been within the first Saudi Chambers of Commerce who have adopted the concept of social responsibility, pointing to the establishment of (Patient's Friends Committee) for more than a quarter of a century, referring that it was the first initiative of its kind in this area which succeeded in mobilizing the efforts of businessmen in the Eastern Province behind the volunteering work.. He mentioned that the Chamber made a lot of initiatives in the field of community service, praising the businessmen in the Eastern region, and members of the Chamber both businessmen and women.
Above all, Al Rashid mentioned the projects being adopted by the chamber relying on the efforts of many businessmen and extends over the community service areas, pointing out that businessmen have donated through their contributions to the initiatives for the Patients Friends Committee with more than 400 million riyals, since its establishment in 1403 H, as their offerings included contributions to the medical facilities in general and specialized in a number of cities and provinces of the Eastern region, and the purchase of advanced medical equipments and machines for the patients service, and the development of medical services in many units, hospitals and clinics in the region.
